| Biografia | John has been a principal of Walthausen & Co. since the firm's inception in September, 2007. He has developed a well honed understanding of investing in small cap value stocks over his 40 year career. He initially became interested in the ability of cash flow analysis to predict stock performance when working as a credit analyst covering industrial, technology and aerospace companies in the 1970’s. Subsequent to his earning a MBA in 1978, John worked as an analyst at Value Line, Fidelity Bank and as a portfolio manager at Mutual of America. In 1986, sensing that there was a lack of good stock picking analysts in the small cap value arena, he shifted to the sell side and focused on small cap stocks, first at First Albany and then at C L King. On the sell side, he developed a reputation as an innovative stock picker. In 1994, John became a founding member of the Paradigm Capital Management investment team. He served as co-manager of institutional accounts for several years before developing and managing the Paradigm Value and Select funds, mutual funds utilizing techniques similar to those he had developed for the institutional accounts. While at Paradigm, John and his team were responsible for the management of approximately $1.3 billion in assets. John graduated from Kenyon College and has advanced degrees in architecture from City University of New York and Finance from NYU. He is a member of the CFA Institute and the New York Society of Securities Analysts. | ||
